Elaine is a skilled and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist who graduated from Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom with an honours degree in Occupational Therapy in 2007. Previously, she completed a 4 year Degree in Humanities.

Elaine has previously worked for the H.S.E. across both Early Intervention Services and School Aged Teams. She has also worked extensively in Intellectual Disability with both Children and Adults. She has experience completing Assessment of Need with children of all age groups and with a variety of disabilities, including motor, sensory and behavioural challenges. She has works alongside Psychologists in carrying out The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) for individuals suspected of having autism or other pervasive developmental disorders. She has also worked as an Occupational Therapy Manager for the last number of years in supporting the higher Management Team in developing a Therapy and Residential Service for children with a wide variety of complex needs.

Elaine has gained invaluable knowledge and experience working with and alongside clinicians, parents, teachers and Special Needs Assistants. She believes that in order to provide a client-centred approach it is crucial to involve everybody in the Occupational Therapy process so that a greater understanding of the child’s strengths and weakness can be identified. For Elaine, building rapport with the child she is working with is a vital part of the assessment process, so that the child is comfortable and able to engage in their main occupation, play. One can learn a great deal of information from a child when they are playing.

Elaine is registered with CORU (Health & Social Care Professionals Council), and is a member of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland (AOTI). She is also an active member of the AOTI Accreditation Committee, Paediatric Advisory Group and the Private Practice Advisory Group.

Elaine is a mother of 5 young children, so spare time is limited but between nappy changes, and a general taxi service to football, GAA, swimming and play-dates, she enjoys running, gym classes and reading a wide variety of literature.
