Maja is a Senior Clinical Psychologist, with over twelve years’ experience of working with children and adolescents across a range of healthcare settings. She is a Chartered Member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).
Maja completed her undergraduate Psychology degree at Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in Health Psychology at University College London. She subsequently worked as a researcher in the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland (RCSI), working on a national study of Healthy Ageing (Health and Social Services for Older People II [HeSSOP II]) as well as on the first national audit of Stroke Services in Ireland. During her time in RCSI Maja was also involved in lecturing and supervising students working on the research programmes. Through her research with older adults, Maja completed a PhD in Health and Developmental Psychology. Alongside her research experience, Maja gained experience working as an Assistant Psychologist in a Child and Adolescent Primary Care service. Maja also volunteered with a telephone listening service and worked in an educational setting where she supported children with additional needs.
Maja completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Limerick. Throughout her Doctoral training, Maja worked in a range of healthcare settings across Ireland, including Primary Care Child and Adolescent Psychology, Adult Mental Health, Older Adult Mental Health, Adult Disability Services and Early Intervention and School-Age Disability Services. Since qualifying in 2009, Maja has worked with the Health Service Executive on an Early Intervention and School-Age Disability Team and since 2021, on an Enable Ireland led Community Disability Network Team (CDNT).
Maja is skilled in conducting psychological assessments including cognitive assessments, assessments of adaptive functioning and best-practice autism assessments with children and adolescents. She strives to create an assessment environment that is positive and child and family-centred. Maja is experienced in delivering a range of therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. She is also experienced in supporting parents/caregivers through individual consultations and group interventions (e.g. FearLess Triple P).
Maja has a particular interest in neurodiversity affirmative practice and in supporting families to navigate challenges and build on strengths. Maja also has an interest in Positive Psychology and in applying Positive Psychology principles to optimise well-being and functioning across the lifespan. She has co-authored several publications include journal articles, book chapters and health service reports.
