Yvonne obtained a BA in Psychology from Maynooth University, and subsequently completed a MSc in Applied Psychology in Trinity College Dublin, graduating with a distinction. In 2020, Yvonne completed a diploma in Leadership for Inclusion in the Early Years in Mary Immaculate College. More recently, Yvonne completed her Professional Doctorate in Educational Psychology at University College Dublin. She is passionate and committed to supporting children and young people and their families through a person-centred and strength-based approach.
Before becoming an educational psychologist, Yvonne demonstrated her passion of working with young children by working as an educator in support classes for Autistic children and as an early years specialist, promoting diversity and inclusion in early year settings. Her doctoral training comprised of several professional placements, including a HSE Child Disability Service, a HSE Primary Care Child Psychology Service, the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) and general paediatrics in Children’s Health Ireland in Connolly Hospital. As such, Yvonne has worked with children and young people presenting with a variety of strengths and needs across a range of settings.
Yvonne has experience conducting cognitive, attainment, adaptive, play-based and diagnostic assessments, as well as social, emotional and behavioural screeners. She has provided therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. She has also delivered a number of psychological groups, including Timid to Tiger, Parenting Teens, Understanding Autism, and Adolescent Stress Control.
