Dr Rebecca Ryan
Senior Clinical Psychologist
Dublin Team
Rebecca is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with 20 years experience collaborating with young people and their families as they navigate mental health, trauma and neurodiversity in their lives. She is a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland. She began her psychology journey at Ulster University, before completing a MSc in Clinical Psychology at Bangor University in Wales and later a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham.
Rebecca’s doctoral research focused on the resilience of children and parents who had experienced domestic violence—an area that continues to shape her compassionate, trauma-informed clinical approach. Rebecca has worked across a wide range of NHS and HSE services, including inpatient and community CAMHS, services for children who are looked after, and adult mental health.
Alongside the Children's Clinic, Rebecca works within a community CAMHS service, supporting young people and their families as they navigate mental health needs, trauma and neurodiversity. She also supervises Clinical Psychology trainees and lectures on the University of Cork and University of Limerick Clinical Psychology Doctoral programmes. Rebecca is trained in various therapeutic interventions, such as compassion focused therapy, dyadic developmental psychotherapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. She is actively involved in various infant mental health initiatives across the HSE and regularly facilitates Circle of Security Parenting programmes. Rebecca is also a Europe accredited Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing practitioner and Consultant-in-Training.
Rebecca is a strong advocate for neuro-affirmative practice and brings these values into all aspects of her professional and personal life. She strives to create a warm, safe, and supportive space where children and young people feel truly seen and understood, and where their strengths, individuality, and unique ways of experiencing the world are welcomed. Rebecca works alongside families in a collaborative and strengths-focused way, supporting them to make sense of autistic identity with care and compassion. She feels genuinely privileged to walk with families through this meaningful and often emotional time in their lives.
