Dr Sarah Caulfield

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Sarah Caulfield is a Clinical Psychologist and a chartered member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). Sarah completed her MSc in Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Galway. Sarah brings a broad range of clinical experience, having worked across services including Child Primary Care, Adult Mental Health, Child and Adult Disability, and Perinatal Mental Health. Since qualifying, Sarah has been working with children and families as part of a Children’s Disability Network Team.

Sarah has a particular interest in child development and the parent-child relationship, and is passionate about supporting families to nurture strong, healthy connections. She is trained in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. Sarah works from a neurodiversity-affirmative and strengths-based perspective, advocating that neurological differences such as autism, ADHD, and other developmental profiles are natural and valuable variations of the human experience.

Sarah is highly experienced in autism identification, and is especially passionate about making the assessment process a supportive and empowering experience for both the young person and their family. Alongside her clinical work, Sarah is a guest lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at the University of Galway, where she teaches on topics including Neurodiversity and Autism in Females.
