Dr Emma Teahan

Educational & Child Psychologist

Dr Emma Teahan completed her Professional Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology in Mary Immaculate College. She is committed to working with children and young people using a person-centred, neurodiversity affirmative approach in her work.

Before her doctoral training, Emma obtained her Education and Psychology degree and worked as a primary school teacher in both mainstream and special class settings. During this time, she completed a Post-Graduate Certificate and Diploma in Autism Studies. Emma has extensive experience working with autistic learners through her time in the classroom as well as her experience as a tutor on the Summer Provision programme, both home-based and within the school setting.

Throughout her doctoral training, Emma completed placements with the National Educational Psychological Service (NEPS) in addition to Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). During this time, Emma gained experience in diagnostic assessment, consultation and therapeutic work with young people. Emma enjoys working flexibly with young people and adapting the process to meet their needs and showcase their strengths and passions.
