Shelley holds a BA in Psychology and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College Dublin, as well as an MSc in Clinical Psychology from Leiden University, The Netherlands.
Over the last eight years, Shelley has worked clinically in Ireland, the UK and Canada. She has supported young people and their families across a range of settings, including primary care, CAMHS, children’s hospitals and private practice. Shelley has experience completing cognitive, educational, adaptive, play-based and diagnostic assessments. She also has experience providing therapeutic support to young people and their families, primarily drawing on compassion-focused and cognitive behavioural therapy approaches.
Shelley recognises that beginning the process of assessment or identification can be daunting, and strives to create a safe, collaborative space for people. She is sensitive to individual difference, and the influence that broader systemic factors can have. Shelley aims to provide young people and their families with an assessment experience in which they feel understood and well-resourced for the future.
